ARP continues to grow by leaps and bounds. With over 358 members on its roster, ARP currently stands in a comfortable financial situation. However, we have taken on several new initiatives in the past year, including co-sponsoring a new journal, Social Psychological and Personality Science, as well as moving ahead with plans for our second stand-alone conference in June 2011. With these undertakings, not surprisingly come increased financial obligations. For these reasons, and also to ensure that we are on solid financial ground in the future, the ARP Executive Committee voted to increase membership dues for regular members from $40 to $50 effective this year (though we elected to hold the line on student membership dues).
Dues have not been raised since the inception of the organization despite the increased benefits membership provides – subscriptions to two journals (JRP and SPPS) and reduced conference registration fees for our stand-alone conference. Perhaps most important, your dues support the only US-based professional organization devoted exclusively to developing and promoting personality psychology. We hope you agree that even at $50, dues remain a relative bargain!
By the time you read this, you will have already received your membership dues notification or will be receiving it shortly. Please re-up promptly; the continued health of the Association depends on it! A link to the 123signup portal should be included in your notice, making it easy to renew.
We thank you for your continued support. Please let me hear from you (at cooperm@missouri.edu) if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions.
